Cub Scout Day Camp 2009
So I woke up the 2nd day of day camp with a nasty headache and feeling all around yucky. So even though I had an offer from someone to watch the girls, I didn’t stay at camp.
Day 3, I had a sitter for the girls, was feeling great and was ready to go up and hang out with the boys!
Seth’s den was in charge of the flag ceremony again on the 2nd morning.
I ended up being unofficially assigned to Corbin’s den. I really didn’t want to be tied down because I wanted to be able to jump from group to group so I could get pictures of all the boys. But that didn’t work out.
Corbin’s den’s first activity was fishing at Goldwater Lake! In order to earn their fishing belt loop they had to bait their own hook, try to catch a fish and discuss the local fishing regulations and their importance.
It was a beautiful morning at the lake! As soon as we got their they told the boys to be very quiet as they walked to the lake. Sitting on the rocks across from where the boys were fishing was a Great Blue Heron! They are pretty common around here but still very cool to see one up close!
Corbin lost no time getting down to business! No one caught anything but they still had fun. After they made a good effort at trying to catch a fish they got to try and catch crawdads!
The boys get a run down on the local regulations of fishing.
After fishing, I was able to get away for a little while to see what Seth’s group was up to.
They were at the Archery Station! One of the favorite stations at camp! Seth almost got a Bulls Eye on one of his shots while I was there! He did a great job all around!
Seth’s den went to BB Guns next…but I had to get back to Corbin’s den. I only snapped a picture of them learning the rules.
At lunch time the boys had balloons launched at them!
After lunch Seth’s den were off to finish their shields! Seth put a Griffin on his. And it turned out really neat!
When we got home he brushed off more of the glitter because it was only supposed to be around the edges but it stuck to the paint.
Here are our Wolves! They all did a great job on their shields!
Corbin’s shield had a battle axe on it and then he drizzled paint all over it…it’s cool what kids come up with when you let them use their own creativity!
Here are our Bears and Webelos!
And that was the last activity of the day! It was a lot of fun and I am glad I had the opportunity to go and help out and hang out with the boys!

those are awesome!!
That looks like so much fun! We only do one day of day camp here but I remember when they used to do a whole week. That is really great. Thanks for sharing.
